Humanitarian Organizations Assisting with Ukraine Relief Efforts

Thank you to Leslie Dunham for providing this information.

Per www.Give.org, the following nationally-soliciting charities are BBB Accredited (i.e., they meet the 20 BBB Standards for Charity Accountability).  Their respective websites indicate that they are either currently raising funds for assistance efforts in Ukraine or preparing for needs that could arise if conflict results in population displacement.

  • CARE USA  www.care.org  Already on the ground in Ukraine & Poland. Moved their Kyiv office to Lviv. Expecting to distribute food, water and hygiene kits to 4 million Ukrainians.

  • Catholic Relief Services www.crs.org  Working with Caritas Ukraine to provide food, shelter, counseling and transportation at evacuation centers, and evacuating vulnerable children.

  • Direct Relief  www.directrelief.org  Providing emergency medicines and medical supplies to treat war casualties and stock hospitals, as requested by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.

  • Episcopal Relief & Development  www.episcopalrelief.org  Working with local partner, Action by Churches Together (ACT), to provide blankets, hygiene supplies, cash and other needed assistance.

  • GlobalGiving  www.globalgiving.org Has raised nearly $5 million of their $7 million goal to provide to vetted local partners.

  • International Medical Corps  www.internationalmedicalcorps.org  In Ukraine and neighboring countries. Providing medical, mental health, and protection services; special focus on preventing gender-based violence.

  • International Rescue Committee  www.rescue.org Working with displaced families, with special emphasis on women and children traveling alone, and refugees from Afghanistan, Crimea, and Belarus. Has local partners in Poland.

  • Mercy Corps www.mercycorps.org  On the ground in Poland and Romania. Providing emergency cash assistance and legal services to Ukrainians arriving in border towns now. Will work with internally displaced Ukrainians, especially elderly and disabled who are less likely to be able to leave country, later. Will work with local partners to restore war damaged homes and provide small business loans later, as did in Luhansk and Donetsk from 2015-17.

  • Operation USA  www.opusa.org Providing cash grants to partners until they can ship medical supplies, medicine, energy and shelter supplies from their warehouse in Los Angeles. Cash gifts will help expedite shipping. Has worked in Poland.

  • Save the Children  www.savethechildren.org   Has worked in Ukraine since 2014 to provide access to education, psychosocial support, winter and hygiene kits, and cash grants to families overcoming the mental and psychological impacts of conflict and violence.

  • United States Association for UNHCR  www.unrefugees.org  Has been in Ukraine since 2014, as well as bordering countries. Special concern for elderly and disabled who cannot leave Ukraine, vulnerable women & children who risk separation, approximately 5,000 refugees who had fled to Ukraine, and 3rd country workers and students.
