ABOUT OUR PASTOR
Rev Bev Lewis has been serving as our pastor since May of 2013 and came to us from her former church in Louisville, KY. Her sermons are a mixture of humor, history, nature moments, engaging theology and challenges to stop sitting still and change something in the world beginning with you!
She believes that discipleship doesn't separate spiritual stuff from social justice or worship from active participation when our neighbors near and global need some hands and feet in a hurry!
Rev Bev supports and loves all things UCC, is an active conservationist and environmental activist, a gardener, birdwatcher, and can't live without a steady supply of Diet Dr. Pepper and ice tea! She is an avid Baltimore Orioles and Green Bay Packers fan, stargazer and the proud mother of her rescue beagle, Walter.
She grew up as a Texas Baptist and trekked up and down the Texas-New Mexico border and ultimately landed in Washington DC at the close of her missionary career. Her personal journey has been a mixture of wonder and complexity that continues to mold and frame her life. We in the United Church of Christ strongly embrace and affirm "No matter who you are or where you are in the journey of life, you're welcome here" is real and Rev Bev lives it with us! As she always says with the hint of a Texan twang, "God Is Still Speaking, Y'all!"
